Heath Ledger = Dead
So, Heath Ledger died today at the age of 28 from an accidental overdose of sleeping pills. All I can say is wow. Shock and awe. This man was truly one of our generations greatest actors. Obviously his Joker will become the most known character in the history of film after this.
But what strikes me weirdly is that in an interview(which I will find somewhere), Ledger stated that preparing for his role as The Joker had caused him to suffer from insomnia and when he did sleep he had horrible nightmares. Now I don’t know if that was just a marketing ploy to make the movie better or something but if truth, The Joker could have killed Heath Ledger.
He will be missed by many including his two year old daughter.
ANOTHER UPDATE: I found the interview I was referring to. Here is the link and I will provide certain snippets here.
“Last week I probably slept an average of two hours a night,” he said. “I couldn’t stop thinking. My body was exhausted, and my mind was still going.” One night he took an Ambien, which failed to work. He took a second one and fell into a stupor, only to wake up an hour later, his mind still racing.
UPDATE: Here is a pic of Heath Ledger on the 19th.

LAST UPDATE: Apparently they are now saying Heath died of natural causes. Possibly a heart attack.

I hadn’t heard that interview. Wow. Insomnia can be so dangerous when you add depression. I’m a psychologist just starting a blog on what we can learn about people, relationships and the movies. I’ll check back.

[...] went into this expecting great things. After hearing the death of Heath Ledger and reading up on it I noticed that he, like many great actors, threw himself into the character. [...]

i was amazed to see his performance in The Dark Knight, and being that i am from the “Christian world”, i was one of the only people i know who truly loved his character. [i also loved Angelina Jolie in Girl, Interrupted. and she said that she didn't know if she would be able to come back from that character, bringing more light to what Heath was going through] no, i do not like people who kill people, but people who can show me how fragile my life is, how fragile my mental state is, and can do it with that much reality mixed in (with his death and all). people like that deserve to become a fixture for acting….
